Our team attended the unveiling of the new Porsche 911 Challenge for the 2027 season, which took place as part of the 2026 PSCCE at the Grobnik Circuit in Croatia.

What Is the Porsche 911 Challenge?

"Easy to drive. Challenging to master."

That’s how one of the latest Porsche 911 Challenge models is described. It’s a modern track day car that, for many, can serve as a gateway to the world of racing.

With this new 911 Challenge racing special, the German automaker is walking a fine line between its sports cars and racing cars. It borrows much of its technology from production GT models – the body, rear wing, seven-speed transmission, aerodynamic elements, air conditioning, and many of driver-assistance features. However, it also adds racing components – a welded roll cage, a safety net, a sports seat with a six-point harness, a modified racing steering wheel, and a race-approved fuel tank.

The Porsche 911 Challenge is thus designed as a pure race car for track driving, but one that’s tailored for those who have only recently fallen in love with motorsports. It therefore represents the ideal first step into this world. It’s a car that will forgive just about anything when you’re starting out, but one that will grow with you and eventually present you with a real challenge to master it fully.

It’s perfectly suited for both summer and winter track day events, which we at Šenkýř Motorsport organize and where you can enjoy free driving on exclusively rented tracks throughout Europe. And then, of course—and most importantly—for racing. For example, as early as next year, it will compete in the 2027 Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe series (in which we’re currently racing this season).

Review of the Test Drive on the Circuit

After a test drive in the cockpit of the new Porsche at the Grobnik Automotodrom, Richard Gonda spoke enthusiastically about the 911 Challenge:

"We tested the new Porsche 911 Challenge and can confirm its potential. It offers the consistency and grip of slick tires, balanced aerodynamics, and phenomenal braking performance thanks to its racing system. The precisely tuned ABS and TC, which you’ll recognize from the GT3 and GT3 RS models, keep a protective hand over the driver without you even realizing it. It’s less technically complex than the GT3 Cup and, at the same time, more powerful than the GT4 version."
